Objectives and Principles of Securities Regulation

IOSCO issued its “Objectives and Principles of Securities Regulation” (Core Principles) in 1998. The implementation of these 30 principles for the supervision of securities trading is the organisation's foremost project. At its annual general meeting in 2003 a new methodology for assessing the implementation of these principles was introduced. This enables countries to identify those areas in which their own regulations fail to meet the international standards set out in the IOSCO principles.
