Activities subject to authorisation / Authorisation procedure

Which steps must be taken before commencing an activity requiring a license and making an application for a license?

Prior to undertaking a business activity that is subject to supervision by the SFBC, an authorisation has to be obtained from the SFBC. The conduct of financial activities without the required authorisation is subject to punishment pursuant to the applicable legal provisions.

If there is any doubt, whether or not a certain activity requires an authorisation, it is recommended to obtain a legal opinion and make the necessary inquiries beforehand. The SFBC may also be contacted for specific inquiries.

In order to facilitate the application for an authorisation, the SFBC has issued related Guidelines. It is recommended to contact the SFBC prior to sending in an application for authorisation.
