In this context, FINMA held a series of roundtable discussions in March and April 2018 in Zug, Geneva and Lugano to explain its assessment of ICOs in accordance with the FINMA ICO guidelines, the categorisation of tokens and how ICOs are potentially impacted by financial market regulation. The aim was to provide first-hand information to interested market participants and facilitate a direct exchange between stakeholders and FINMA. These events, were intended for (potential) ICO organisers and specialists with an interest in ICOs.
The events were organised in cooperation with the non-profit industry association Crypto Valley Association.
The roundtables have attracted considerable interest both nationally and internationally. All the events were booked out and over 550 persons attended in total. Feedback during and after the roundtable events was consistently highly positive.
