Reporting unauthorised cold calling in the area of supplementary health insurance

Unsolicited and unwanted telephone contact from insurance companies or insurance intermediaries is considered cold calling in connection with insurance intermediation. Cold calling in the health insurance sector has been prohibited in Switzerland since 1 September 2024. Calls are only permitted if a business relationship already exists, if you were a client of the company making the call less than three years ago or if the call was made on the recommendation of a third party known to you. If you believe that you have been contacted by telephone without authorisation, you can report this to FINMA using the form below.

Unsolicited calls from insurance companies or insurance intermediaries in connection with supplementary health insurance are only permitted if a business relationship already exists or if you were a client less than three years ago. Please note that only unsolicited telephone calls in connection with supplementary health insurance should be reported to FINMA. Unsolicited telephone calls in connection with compulsory basic insurance should be reported to the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) and telephone calls in connection with unsolicited advertising should be reported to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
