The FINMA Board of Directors has decided to open more offices in Zurich. FINMA's head office, its centre of business activities and its entire Executive Board will remain in Bern. Up to 20 per cent of its staff will work in Zurich starting in spring 2012.
FINMA's legal and operational headquarters are to remain in Bern. Certain teams will be moved to Zurich if, from an operational point of view, it makes sense to do so. As a next step, FINMA will look into setting up an office in French-speaking Switzerland, with focus mainly being on the Lausanne area which is well served by public transport.
