Executive Board member, Urs Zulauf, has decided to pursue his professional career outside FINMA and has handed in his resignation. FINMA expresses its deepest thanks to him for his long-standing commitment to the Financial Market Supervisory Authority. Nina Arquint will replace him on the Executive Board.
After 30 years of service in banking and financial market supervision, Urs Zulauf has informed the Board of Directors that he intends pursuing new professional challenges outside FINMA. Since FINMA's establishment, he has taken on difficult duties and worked on complex projects for the Financial Market Supervisory Authority in his role as Executive Board member and General Counsel. Anne Héritier Lachat, Chair of the Board of Directors: "The Board of Directors and FINMA's CEO regret Urs Zulauf's decision. We understand, however, that after many years in financial market supervision he would like to take on a new challenge. We express our deepest gratitude for his extraordinary commitment and his successful and widely recognised work in banking and financial market supervision. We wish him every success in his future professional career."
The Board of Directors has appointed Nina Arquint as Urs Zulauf's successor. Nina Arquint, who is currently Head of the General Secretariat, will lead the Strategic Services division starting on 1 February 2013. The General Secretariat will be integrated into the Strategic Services division on the same date.
Nina Arquint began her professional career in insurance supervision at the former Federal Office of Private Insurance. As Secretary to FINMA's Board of Directors, she has from the outset supported and worked closely on establishing FINMA in its early days. Nina Arquint, who holds a doctorate in law, has been Head of the General Secretariat since 1 October 2009 in which role she has supported FINMA's strategic management and been responsible for communication activities and handling political affairs. Anne Héritier Lachat: "We are pleased to appoint Nina Arquint to the Executive Board, a qualified successor who is fully familiar with FINMA’s remit and its important projects."
