Bruno Frick appointed to FINMA Board of Directors

The Federal Council has appointed Bruno Frick to the Board of Directors of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA. Bruno Frick, an independent attorney-at-law and notary, represented Canton Schwyz in the Council of States over many years. He has also been on the board of directors of various organisations and sectors. Following his election to the FINMA Board of Directors, he will give up his mandates in the financial sector.
Bruno Frick owns a notary's office and is a partner in a law firm. In addition to his professional activities, the 60-year old lawyer was engaged over many years in cantonal, and especially in national, politics. From 1991 to 2011, he represented Canton Schwyz in the Council of States. He was President of the Council of States (2004) and was active in various committees and delegations of the Council of States, some of which he also presided over.

Bruno Frick is a board member of various companies and organisations. To avoid any conflicts of interest, he will give up all his activities and mandates in the financial sector following his election to the FINMA Board of Directors. This concerns in particular his seat on the Swica insurance company board of directors, that on the VQF Financial Services Standards Association and on various other asset management companies.

Anne Héritier Lachat, Chair of FINMA Board of Directors: "FINMA will doubly gain by having Bruno Frick on our Board of Directors. Not only is he an experienced lawyer and practitioner, but he also has profound knowledge of federal politics." Bruno Frick will take up his new mandate as a member of the FINMA Board of Directors on 1 August 2013.
