As the Swiss authority for private insurance, the Federal Office of Private Insurance (FOPI) fosters the development of private insurance in Switzerland and worldwide.

To this end, FOPI attends international meetings on insurance, contributes to the conclusion and implementation of international agreements; monitors closely international developments, particularly in Europe, and cooperates with insurance supervision authorities in other jurisdictions
